Yankees On A Roll

With a victory last night over the visting Seattle Mariners, the New York Yankees have now won 7 in a row and look to continue their solid play tonight as they wrap up their series with Seattle. During the 7-game win streak the Yankees have put forth outstanding pitching, both from the starters and the revamped bullpen. I won't call for Hughes to be the eigth-inning set-up guy, I will let that takes it course as Girardi is bound to see the writing on the wall at some point and eventually have Hughes go for a save when Mariano Rivera is in need of a day off. Perhaps the most enlightening aspect of the win streak has been the hot bat of Alex Rodriguez. Coming off the DL Girardi had played A-Rod in 38 consecutive games with no rest. A trip to Atlanta from Brian Cashman quickly changed that as A-Rod has been on a tear ever since those 2 days off in Florida. Notice that as A-Rod goes, so do the Yankee bats. Let us hope that this good play carries on until the All-Star break which will make for a very exciting August and September as the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays inch closer to one another in the standings.
